Nantucket Land & Water Council’s
8th Annual State of the Harbor Forum
Thursday, July 18, 2024
Great Harbor Yacht Club
The Nantucket Land & Water Council is pleased to host the 8th annual State of the Harbor Forum, which will provide the latest information on issues impacting the health of Nantucket Harbor.
What is stormwater? Where does it come from? Where does it go? How does it impact the health of our Harbors? This year, featured presenters will share information on the status of Nantucket’s stormwater infrastructure in the downtown area, along with planning efforts underway to implement improvements. Two projects will be highlighted: one to investigate the water quality of stormwater entering our harbor; a second to restore the ecological integrity of Lily Pond Park, an important stormwater catchment area within the harbor watershed. Both projects are important components in the Town’s larger stormwater story, which will be discussed as part of the presentation.
Featured speakers include: Emily Molden, Executive Director of the Nantucket Land & Water Council; Anne Kitchell, Associate Principal & Senior Watershed Planner, Horsley Witten Group; Charles Johnson, Stormwater Manager, Town of Nantucket Sewer & Stormwater Department; Rachael Freeman, Director of Operational Resources, Nantucket Land Bank.
Please join us to learn about these collaborative efforts and the importance of where the water goes. This event is free and open to the public. Registration is encouraged, though not required.
