Watch our presentation by local fisherpeople Simon Edwardes, Melanie Kotalac, and Josh Eldridge, along with Tara Riley from the Town of Nantucket Natural Resources Department. Our panel discusses current challenges facing our harbor and marine waters, and projects underway to address these issues. Tara Riley will discuss common practices we can all adapt to ensure the vitality and sustainability of our water resources. Our harbor health depends on us all!
March 2021 – Clean Water for Nantucket!
Learn about Nantucket Waterkeeper presented by the Nantucket Land & Water Council and the Waterkeeper Alliance. Nantucket Land & Water Council is committed to being your advocate for our water resources; along with the Waterkeeper Alliance, we are on the front lines protecting, preserving and sustaining our water for all community members. Join David Prescott of Save the Bay and the Waterkeeper Alliance Council for a discussion on how clean water affects all sections of our community and how we each play a role in protecting and preserving this critical resource. Thais Fournier, Town of Nantucket Water Resource Specialist, joins to discuss everyday practices that all Nantucket residents should abide by to keep our waters safe and healthy. June 2020 – Ecological Landscaping
We welcomed Dr. Jack Ahern to discuss “Ecological Landscaping on Nantucket”. Dr. Ahern is a professor of Landscape Architecture at UMASS Amherst. Dr. Ahern discussed the importance of protecting our vulnerable water and coastal resources through better landscaping practices.
